HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!!!

Yes, today really is Australia Day.  My friend Stef loves Australia, so she told me about the holiday.  We made plans last year to move to Australia.  We designed our house and everything.  It was pretty amazing.

This has been a pretty busy week, but I've found it really entertaining.  My dog is going crazy.  She wants to go to bed.

I went to North Central this past weekend.  I had an interview for a scholarship.  Hopefully it went really well, but I guess I will find out in a few weeks.  Two of the people at my table were Erik and Sean.  They seemed to be really nice.  I wonder if they will end up at North Central or some other college.  It would be really cool if I got to know them better.  The trip overall was quite entertaining.  I absolutely loved the school.

I had the opportunity to see Brandon and Beki on my trip up to Chicago.  They have a dog named Lucy now.  She is a chihuahua.  She's really cute.  We picked Brandon and Beki up from their house and drove them to the Cheesecake Facotry (a restaraunt).  The food there was really good.  I had pizza and a salad.  As we were sitting in there, it began to snow more and more.  Finally, we decided to leave.  The ground was already covered in snow.  On our way back to Brandon and Beki's house, we saw so many cars in ditches on the side of the road.  Almost all of them were stuck.  We ended up pulling into a Duncan Donuts store to have a bathroom break and our car almost got stuck in the continuously growing snow piles.  Finally we managed to get back to Brandon and Beki's house.  Our car got stuck in the snow on their street.  With the neighbors' help, it took 45 minutes to get our car out of the snow.  It was about 10:30 when we arrived in their neighborhood.  After freeing our car, we said our goodbyes and headed back to the hotel.

Also, we got to see a speaker that lived through the civil war in Rwanda.  He was the hotel manager in the Hotel Rwanda movie.  He helped save many lives and would not leave his country even when he had the opportunity.  He experienced the civil war and he watched a genocide almost take place.  It was a really interesting speech to listen to.

A lot of the memories come from the long car trips.  My brother and I would sing really loud to the music.  We also took turns sleeping, and I never had to drive.  My mom and my brother were the drivers.  We took a lot of scenic pictures out of the windows of the car and I took a few of my brother in the car.  We also did a little bit of mullet hunting, which was quite entertaining as well.  My brother and I even got to the point where we started yelling out all the mile markers.

I've spent a lot of time reflecting today.  I have so many unanswered questions.  I guess that is what I get for having a wandering brain.  I need to go study for my math test, not to mention I have other homework as well.  I don't really want to write a lot on here, because a lot of it shouldn't be put down in writing.  Oh well.

I never thought a journal that I was turning in for a grade could reveal so much about my life.  I usually dont' like to let people in on my life, but for some reason I just didn't care that much this time.  I guess I never really got into the specific details, and I didn't mention the darkest hour of my life (figuratively speaking).  I'm extremely tired from working on homework, and I hope that I can find rest tonight (in more than one way).

September 27, 2004 seems like it was just yesterday.  It's hard to believe it has been over a year since that date.  I don't think I will ever forget it, even though it was the 26th that was truly significant.  I can't stay on for long, I still have a lot of essays to write.  I was just trying to figure out if my xanga site was eating my posts or not.  It isn't.  I'm a bit stressed out right now, and I'm not sure I've made some of the wisest decisions today.  Back to my work!
